It is enmeshed and interwoven into the very fabric of society. A perpetual mindless psychosis that we are conditioned into since birth.
The current paradigm of the world and it's pleasure diversions feeds the ego and starves the soul, making humans addicted to always seeking more external synthetic pleasure diversions to fill the void that can never be filled as they are driven further and further away from what they are seeking – their own soul.
